Castle Saint Angelo and the Vatican...almost

I knew that we needed to get the Vatican out of the way first...the lines take forever, so we headed to the hotel to check in and drop off our bag and head out to the Vatican. (By the way, you heard right people...one bag for the two of us and I don't' mean a suitcase with wheels. I am talking a back pack, thank you very much.) We make it to the Vatican (on the subway) and begin our photographic journey, until we are stopped in our tracks. We didn't have time to make through the line and see everything, so we decided to go to Plan B...except we didn't have one at the time.

So, we end up going across the river to Castle Saint Angelo. The castle was used as a hiding place for all of the Popes during times of war in Rome. From the top of the Castle, the Pope could see a 360 panorama of all of Rome. It was actually built by Hadrian and he is buried there. It has some great history and you just can't ignore the great views.
