TPLO

Abbie finally had her TPLO surgery...also known as ACL reconstruction. I was foolish enough to have it done on Taris' birthday which just made me more nervous of the outcome. She came through with flying colors and I brought her home on Thursday. She is doing awesome now and should be back to normal in no time! I have included pictures from the day I brought her home.

A look at the surgery site

This is how she felt with her collar on

She was NOT happy with me

The Office

We had our security and robbery training at work on Thursday.  Before we started we watched this clip from The Office to remind us what we could end up like if we don't actually pay attention and absorb the material.  Super funny!  Enjoy.

SlingBox

So for Taris' birthday I got him a Slingbox.  For those that may not be familiar, it is a device that hooks to the tv and "slings" your live or DVR images around the world to your computer.  In honor of Taris being out of the country for a year, I thought that he might enjoy the option to keep up with some creature comforts.  He is already using it and is only in New Jersey.  His birthday is on Wednesday, so I will keep my birthday thoughts until then.

Abbie's ACL

So I took Abbie to the doctor for her consultation for her ACL surgery. I had to pay $100 for the surgeon to tell me that my vet was right and she needs surgery. (Boy I am glad that we squared that away!) The surgery has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd...Taris' birthday. I will let everyone know when she is finished and out OK.

My First 5K

I always told myself that I would get back into running. Well, I have finally taken the plunge. There is a store in Pensacola called Running Wild that holds 12 week clinics to teach you how to run a 5K. I have participated in several 5K since moving to Pensacola, but none that I have run. So I am taking the plunge. We started on Wednesday and I am super excited. I can't wait to get into full swing. The class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays and then you have homework the rest of the week. I will have more to talk about on Monday. So, until then...

I Gotta Feeling

So, I watched the season premier of Oprah today.  (I have been trying to cut back on Oprah lately...Taris keeps telling me she is the anti-Christ.)  But every once in a while I will catch one.  The opening number was the Black Eyed Peas singing "I Gotta Feeling".  They taught this dance a couple of days in advance to anyone interested.  It was pretty cool.  I have posted the video below.

What have we been up to?

Unfortunately this will be an unexciting post...no pictures, but I will try to be short and sweet.  It has been a crazy chunk of time.  Taris has been running around like a crazy person to get all of his deployment stuff done before he leaves for New Jersey.  As of last Thursday, he still didn't have orders for his month away...which was to start on Tuesday!  Another adventure of being an Air Force person stationed with the Navy and how to input everything into the computer system.  On Friday at 3:00, Taris finally had orders cut, but to my surprise the flight was on Monday.  So Sunday was spent packing, getting last minute stuff from the squadron, and laundry.  I dropped Taris off at the airport at 5:30 AM...his flight was at 6:30.  He arrived in one piece and actually knows someone at the school from Dyess.  He survived day one of class (today) and is having a pretty good time.  (Or as he likes to put it...death by power point, which I quickly reminded him what branch of service he was in and their LOVE for power point.)  The dogs and I are holding down the fort here at home and I am actually getting some sleep (which is always a bonus).

Hopefully I will have pictures soon.  I sent Taris with a camera (actually 2) so he has no excuses.
