Show Us Your Life- What do you collect?

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

This weeks installment of Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life is about what you collect.  Wow.  I don't really seek out one particular thing to collect anymore.  Mainly because I don't have anywhere to put anything!  So, I will review things that I used to collect or occasionally collect, but still have.

Precious Moments.  My Nana Byers started us on these.  All three of us girls (Alexis, Rachel, and I) have been collecting these for a long time.  Each figurine means something...when we were baptized, a special Christmas, when we got engaged/married, graduation, etc.  They are even more special because of who gave them to me...my Nana, Maw-Maw and Grandfather, my parents, my sisters, even Taris.  I don't have them up in the house, but it is one of the things that I wish that I would make space for.

In fact, our family loves the figurines so much that I can remember going to the Precious Moments Factory/Park/Chapel in Missouri for a tour and a great place to stop when we drove from Texas to Michigan.  (For the record, it is a fascinating place to visit and a must see if you ever find yourself in Missouri!)

When I was younger I was in love with porcelain dolls.  I would ask for a doll each holiday and Maw-maw would always get me one for the occasion.  This collection didn't last too long, but I still have the dolls.

If you ask my husband what I collect, I would guess that he would say shoes and purses.  Unfortunately for him, he has no one to really compare my collection with and if he really had someone to compare me to, he would soon find that my small collection was nothing!

One Week

I can hardly believe that it is one week from today that I will be boarding a plane to fly half way across the globe to see Taris before he leaves for the desert.  It seems so surreal...and far away still.  This is a SUPER packed week of things to accomplish before I am able to head out.  This past week has been unexciting, so I have no pictures.  So, I will leave you with some that Taris sent me a couple of weeks ago that I never posted...I am such a good wife.

Adventures in DFW

I came out to see Alexis, Ashley, and Kendall.  I was greeted by a record snow fall and a power outage.  Luckily, Todd and Nita live down the road and they were gracious enough to allow us to stay at their home.  Unfortunately for them, that meant the four of us, plus Mom, Dad, and Maw-maw.  It was a packed house, but we had a great time.  Tons of pictures were taken and it was so good to have a little mini reunion.  The only ones missing were Rachel, Mike, and Mason.  Mike had to take a trip out of town and Rachel and Mason ended up getting the stomach flu right before they came...so they cancelled.  (They are better now, but they were missed.)  Power was restored by the end of Saturday and we were able to leave Todd and Nita with a little peace and quiet for the rest of their weekend.  What follows below is a picture documentary of the day.

Happy Valentine's Day

This was an unusual Valentine's day.  I spent it with Al and Ashley and Davita!  Al, Ash, Kendall, and I went to Richland Hills for church, then they treated me to Chipotle for lunch.  We took some pictures afterward...before naptime...shocker I know.  Then I heade out on the town for the afternoon with Davita.  Davita and I were college roommates.  We have some CRAZY memories of "the good old days".  I was back in time for dinner with the family and a little Olympics.  (Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the Olympics?)  It was a wonderful day.  If I had to spend as a single woman, I could not have thought of a better way to spend it.

Playtime with Pops

While in Dallas for the holiday weekend, my parents came into town.  Kendall loves her Pops.  They got some great playtime in and I got some great pictures.  Kendall has started this new phase...stranger danger.  (I always have had great timing with the nieces and nephews.)  She does not like to be left with someone she doesn't know.  Since I live so far away and don't see her regularly, I was definately the unknown.  We had a great time visiting with everyone.  Here are some pictures of play time.

Super Bowl 2010

I was invited over to Scott and Angie's house for the Super Bowl.  We had a great time.  Scott and Angie LOVE the Colts...they are from Indianapolis.  I on the other hand, was rooting for the Saints.  (We live so close and I love rooting for the underdog.)  We had a great time, but I had to leave early...the game was on a work day and all.  Best of all, the Saints pulled it off.  I couldn't believe it.  It was a very good game and I had a great time visiting with everyone.

Angie made Colts Blue cupcakes.  (They were excellent.)  The kids and I had them.  Seth and I.
